Collaborating on “A Place To Call Home” by Kyle Gray {from Rubedo}

My good friend Kyle Gray came over to my bedwomb studio and recorded some vocals and bass for his song “A Place To Call Home”. He is an amazing songwriter, intrepid Ukelele player, and I love his voice {especially his Tom Waits impression}. Check out his band Rubedo! I was honored to read poetry during their last performance as a super group with Ikey Owens {of The Mars Volta}!

Matt Tanner recorded the meat of the song at Snozberry Studios. Jackson Boone sang the mellifluous melodic background fragments of the song and you’ll here my voice appear a couple times through a Kaoss Pad. Then I added a little circuit bending, zippers, and a firework beat. Kyle and I arranged the song in my home studio and laid down more vocals and bass. This song is still in progress, I’m excited to tweak the auto tune and give the whole thing a little more dynamics!
